Abstrakt

This model was designed to implement the use of a garden to enhance present moment experiences at Brethren Care Village, Ashland, Ohio. The project involved two groups of participants that were studied and evaluated. The diagnosis included dementia and Alzheimer's disease (Group A), and depression or serious medical or neurological illnesses (Group B). Following an intense four-week interval of therapeutic gardening and walking, the study produced positive quantifiable results for both groups, with one group demonstrating substantial improvement in the eleven subjective areas evaluated.
