Abstract
  • Children's church workers can increase their confidence and effectiveness at teaching biblical narratives by learning to use expository methodology combined with sound educational practices. The author researched the scriptural mandate for using biblical narratives to teach children about God, and the potential usefulness of developmental theories for children ages 7 to 11. Participants in the project were trained according to the findings of the research. After being trained, they taught a new curriculum that reflects the research findings. Data from focus groups and surveys measured changes in the workers' attitudes and understandings. Participants' understanding and confidence in expository methodology increased.
