Abstrakt

This project researched the theoretical and practical issues involved in planning a church-based pastoral counseling center at Parkway United Methodist Church in Wilton, Massachusetts. The study includes literary research concerning church-based pastoral counseling centers; on-site interviews in six church-based pastoral centers in New England; a survey of the existing mental health facilities in the area; on-site interview in twenty of these agencies; the recruitment and organization of a board of directors to give guidance and support to the project; and the development of a missional statement and general policy guidelines concluded from the study.
