  • Diakonia, the servant ministry of the church, is committed to the wholeness of persons in body, mind, soul and community. Followers of Christ are called to the ministry of diakonia. Diakonia can be fulfilled in a partnership of the local church and local welfare agencies. In a cooperative effort, the Hall County Department of Family and Children's Services join with lay volunteers who are placed in direct service to parents who physically abuse their children. Volunteers develop trust relationships to renew self esteem, decrease social isolation and enhance capacity for coping with stress. A decrease in incidence is measured.
