  • This project researched contemporary church planting theory and church planting praxis, identified and studied examples of existing homeless churches, and explored pertinent theological doctrines and issues, in order to examine the feasibility of developing a congregation for homeless people at the Brantley Baptist Center in New Orleans, LA. Research results, theological doctrines, and common church practice were combined with cultural and sociological realities of homelessness to develop a congregational plan for homeless people. Findings confirmed that homeless people benefitted in areas of discipleship, fellowship, and leadership development. Church worked best as indigenous leaders and a volunteer ministry staff were developed.
