- The purpose of this practicum/project is to test the effectiveness of the narrative approach using literary analysis. Biblical narratives are stories and should be read as literature. The concerns of literary analysis are the concerns of biblical narrative interpretation. The practicum/project has established that the narrative approach is preferred to make the Scripture 'live' and become a part of one's relationship with God. However, the historical-critical approach can be used in isolation from the other. The decision an interpreter must make is which approach is primary. This project found the preferred primary approach to be narrative, supported by historical-critical.
