  • Many congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod are presently experiencing the influences of discussions and renewed interest in 'spiritual gifts' as they relate to the spiritual life of their congregations. From the broad spectrum of spiritual gifts in general to the 'charismatic gifts', there is renewed interest in the use of 'spiritual gifts' which the Lord has given to His Church. As a result, many questions are being raised about 'spiritual gifts' as they relate to the life of the congregation and the individual Christian that must be addressed in a sound theological manner. This study will endeavor to define theological parameters and considerations to measure the impact of the study on the life of a Lutheran congregation, and to offer some suggestions and approaches for promoting a proper understanding of 'spiritual gifts' in the local congregation.
