  • This project teaches Baptist history to youth of Bear Swamp Baptist Church (Lake View, SC) by presenting dramatic monologues of historical figures during Vacation Bible School. Each monologue connects a person with a crucial issue in Baptist history: John Smyth (believers' baptism); Thomas Helwys (religious liberty); John Leland (church-state separation); William Carey (missions); William Bullein Johnson (priesthood of all believers). Tests administered before and after the monologues indicate a fourfold increase in knowledge of Baptist history among participating youth.
