Abstrakt

The thesis grew out of the conviction that forgiving was a significant need among aggrieved members of her church and community. The author, Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel, of Lyons, NY, posed the question: Does preaching on forgiveness help forgiveness to happen? The author interviewed 20, 10 members from her church and 10 not. She preached often on the subject, featuring stories of transformation in life through forgiving. An analysis of her data collected through interviews, surveys, and direct feedback confirmed her hypothesis that preaching does help forgiveness to happen.
