Abstrakt

The issue addresses the development of an approach for teaching scriptural studies to high school students that allows them to study the stories of the Bible as a source for biblical knowledge and wisdom. The research reflects nine weeks of classroom instruction in a ninth grade Old Testament class of 25 girls in all-girl Catholic school in Louisville, Kentucky, and details the instructor's educational and theological assumptions that inform his understanding of the learning process. Survey results indicate students respond positively to a variety of teaching strategies and methods, and desire a learning environment that is controlled yet flexible to meet student needs.
