Abstract
  • Through a discipline of critical reflection on experience and the faith tradition, church school teachers can increase intentionality in teaching and their own faith response. Local church teachers participated in an individual and group reflection process based on Thomas Groome's 'shared praxis' approach. Pre- and post-process measurements indicated an increase in the teachers' valuing of their own faith experience, satisfaction in teaching and sense of purpose of teaching. Results suggest that effective ministry initiates and supports an environment for critical reflection by individuals in the faith community.
