Abstrakt

This project examines the ethical tension between Christian social teachings and family farm survival in the tobacco economy of Central Kentucky. It reports the results of four workshops held to listen to persons involved in various aspects of the tobacco church. The project also develops, tests and expands information for use in the church's educational ministry, including the preparation of a manuscript for publication on the tobacco church. The study concludes that the church must initiate an educational process that supports the family tobacco farm in the short term and encourages crop diversification in the long term.
