  • It is difficult for a new member of a new congregation to move from initial enthusiasm to full participation in the congregation's life. This project documents the need for an intentional process of integration. The author contends that a change occurs both in the new member and the congregation, and the congregation must be sensitive to those changes. He proposes a model for integration and a tool for evaluation to help the maturing congregation remain sensitive. He incorporates insights from a case study, biblical and confessional images of the church, and the experience of Protestant American Christianity.
