Abstrakt

This major project concerns itself with the preparation of a manual for use in teaching the course 'Variety in Biblical Preaching' at Bethel Seminary of the East. It is intended to help students develop the skill of choosing a sermon structure appropriate to the text being preached. Inasmuch as the conviction of the writer is that the first place to look for the structure of the sermon is in the text itself, the manual is entitled 'A Manual for Text-Driven Preaching.' The manual explains a six-step process for developing sermons that are true to the form as well as the meaning of the text. Eleven sermon examples are offered as illustrations of the process.
