  • The question of redemptive communication in mediating difficult issues and conflict has been an issue in Presbyterian congregations. This project focuses the intersection of John Calvin's theology of repentance and a communications method developed by Episcopal priest Eric Law with a particular Session and other members of the congregation. Law's method was explored with the Session. A qualitative research design was developed and a series of surveys and interviews with elders and church consultant were conducted. The research discloses that Calvin's understanding of repentance as change connects with Law's process since it seeks to help leaders and congregations engage in conflict and a changing environment in a healthy manner.
