  • The thesis of the project was that attention to potential positive and negative aspects of some forms of nonverbal communication can enhance the effectiveness of evangelism programs at the parish level. A manual was developed showing the relationship between success in attracting people into fellowship with a congregation and some forms of nonverbal communication, such as nonverbal messages and nonspeech messages. The manual was subjected to evaluation by the Commission on Evangelism and Renewal for the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina and revised according to their recommendations. The conclusion of the project was that the manual would be helpful to any evangelism group, in or out of the Episcopal Church.
