Abstrakt

The author studied, modified and led a program of appreciative inquiry, a model of organizational change that engages the whole congregation in attentive conversation, critical reflection, and faithful envisioning of a preferred future. Church leaders will discover themes of the congregation's peak faith experience and engage in discernment of God's will, linking the two together in new initiatives that will effect congregational transformation. The program includes step-by-step instructions for consensus-building and collaborative implementation of a revised strategic plan. The goal of the program is long-term change in congregational habits that arise from a renewed attitude of focusing on the positive.
