Abstrakt

This project proposes and develops an ecumenical community organization designed to empower African American churches in Pulaski, Virginia, to confront economic oppression and social conditions affecting African American youth in Appalachia. The organization seeks alternative funding through grants and produces a summer youth program that employs a 'rites of passage' concept foster more accountability among young people and their guardians.
