Abstrakt

The objective of this project was to affirm the power of preaching and show that the pastor of a church can utilize preaching to counsel people. The pastoral profession was explored to explain why the pastor has an advantageous position to influence and teach people through preaching so that one-on-one counseling can be avoided as much as possible. The Apostle Paul is used as a model to demonstrate how this could be done within a local church. A shooting incident in a church was described and a survey was conducted to show how a pastor uses preaching to counsel people.
