  • This study addressed the impact of preaching Jesus' parables. Parabolic interpretation has changed over the centuries with parables no longer viewed as allegory, but now understood as metaphors with extended meaning. In review of the purpose, Jewish source, nature, and language of parables this project examined how contemporary preachers can use Jesus' parables to communicate the message of God's Kingdom. The study concluded that the preaching of the parables of Jesus had a positive effect on the congregation's knowledge of the Kingdom of God, and also that the participants felt their faith in God was strengthened as a result.
