Abstrakt

This project centered on the problems of identity, loss, and change created by the retirement of a pastor. Three sessions on these subjects were designed by the pastor and presented to the church board. Five related sessions were presented to the congregation. The findings revealed that board and congregation were distrustful and non-supportive of each other. One congregant even challenged the board and pastor openly at the close of session four. The model revealed trauma in the congregation, and produced learnings that were helpful to pastor and board as their relationship moved toward closure.
