  • The Baby Boom generation of missionaries has exerted significant and lasting influence on North American mission organizations. In multiple, in-depth interviews with 23 mission leaders from 13 different mission agencies this project probes differences between boomer missionaries and the previous generation (limited-time commitment, participatory leadership style, personal development a high priority, family needs determine placement) and examines how these differences have changed the way missions function today. The project reveals important changes in the ministries of member care: personal and spiritual development, counseling, career planning, family care and needs of missionary children.
