Abstrakt

Healthy board governance in an elder-led congregational church poised for growth requires individual and collective delineation of elder requirements, roles and responsibilities. This project examined biblical and extra-biblical texts, contemporary leadership and management materials on servant leadership and input from churches operating with the Carver policy governance model for their governing board for application to the elder board of First Evangelical Free Church of Maplewood, Minnesota. Category sets of governing policies and elder selection and screening materials were developed. Insights and instruction for transitioning to a policy of governance model of board governance is proffered in the project report.
