  • The effort of this work is to motivate one congregation to deeper reflection, meditation and integration of God's word during four seasons in the church year when we typically think about reflection on spiritual matters: Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter. In seeking an entire congregational response to one particular devotional, I hope to develop patterns and habits of daily devotions and therefore, motivate more of the congregation to seek spiritual nurture through daily devotions once the seasons outlined in this devotion are completed. This devotion is a thematic, word study devotional. We explore one topic or theme for each week examining the many ways a particular word or word group is used in the Old and New Testaments. It is not exhaustive, but samples a broader view of the use of particular words and themes, giving greater breath of understanding of a biblical idea.
