Abstrakt

This project was designed to confront the various issues in social crisis ministry in the local congregation of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Michigan City, Indiana. The model designed consisted of pre- and post-test survey, four teaching/preaching series, contextual associates survey form and a ministry outreach sign-up sheet. This action research model involved both the researcher as well as the congregation as participants to affect changes in attitudes toward social issues. The model shows that training and nurturing are essential to engaging the local congregation in social crisis ministry and resulted in the establishment of outreach ministries.
