Abstrakt

The purpose of this study is to design, implement, and evaluate a catechetical workshop for lay people involved in health care which: 1. provides information and facilitates reflection about the revisions of the 1983 rite, Pastoral Care of the Sick, and 2. proposes ministerial attitudes and skills that implement its pastoral norms. Part one analyzes the influence of the rite's theological anthropology and asceticism in ministering to the sick. Part two describes the five-session, in-service learning workshop. Part three evaluates the content and dynamics of the workshop which equipped the participants to minister more effectively to the sick, and with a greater sense of ministerial identity, pastoral sensitivity and liturgical expertise.
