Abstrakt

The purpose of this project was to enhance my preaching skills in expository sermon introductions at Morgan Grace Church in Morgan, Utah. This was the result of a realization that the introduction was the most important part of any sermon preached at Morgan Grace Church. The project began with research of expository preaching. The emphasis of the research was on expository sermon introductions. Next, a best practices report was developed. Following the approval of the best practices report by expert evaluators, a series of expository sermons was developed through the first chapter of 1 John, utilizing the best practices for expository sermon introductions. The sermons were then preached to the congregation of Morgan Grace Church during the Sunday gathering. Finally, these sermons were evaluated by members of the congregation of Morgan Grace Church. They were also evaluated by expert evaluators in the field of expository preaching.
