Abstrakt

This paper gives a brief history of the pastoral counseling movement. It discusses the interrelationships of the pastoral counselor, counseling center and the church. It considers how these ministries work together to bring about healing and spiritual growth. The effectiveness of a clinician in a pastoral counseling center will be related to the environment in which he or she works. The author views the pastoral counseling center from a family systems perspective. He studies how a center and its staff respond to conflicts. This paper offers step-by-step plans for marketing, fund raising and long-range planning that any center can follow.
