- The work presents a three-day seminar to maximize the effectiveness of Christian communicators. Using an adult learner model for the instructional process, the seminar is developed to help participants discover and apply several key skills for effective communication. These skills include: creating urgency in preaching, thinking creatively, connecting with an audience, observing rules of oral clarity, developing and using effective illustrations, learning to preach without notes, and communicating powerfully and persuasively through the mastery of various vocal and visual variables. The opening chapter of this thesis identifies the need for skilled Christian communicators in light of a media saturated society. The second chapter reflects theologically on the task of preaching, particularly highlighting the centrality of preaching in the redemptive work of God. A literature review is offered in chapter three analyzing published works in the area of adult learning and conducting workshops and seminars. The concluding chapters focus on the seminary proper.
