  • In Nashville, TN, children of the haves and the have nots are separated by market-driven forces that keep them numbingly busy, intellectually limited, and ever-pursuing that which will not satisfy. This project addresses this reality by engaging the congregations' children in a practice of encounter. The children of Hill United Methodist Church dislocated among the children of Ubuntu (PCUSA) in order to resist the domination system's forces of isolation, division and diversion. This project discloses that intentional practices of encounter undertaken by children are significant experiences of increasing awareness of and affection for those from whom they are separated.
