  • This project explored the relationship between church health and church growth focusing on the specific characteristics of empowering leadership and transforming discipleship. The particular context was among nine Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregations represented at the November 20002 Power Surge Symposium, conducted by Changing Church, a leadership training ministry of Prince of peace Lutheran Church, Burnsville, Minnesota. The members of the participating congregations were given a questionnaire developed by the Beeson Pastor Team of Kinder, McKee, Law, and Taylor. The findings demonstrated a positive relationship between a learning event and church heath reflected in numerical growth.
