- This writer has been a part of starting seven churches. Though each sponsoring church handled their relationship with their new church plant differently, each gave financially to support the new church. This project is a modified content analysis of literature used by the Southern Baptist Convention. Questions about the literature were asked in order to gauge the strengths, weaknesses and common themes. The answers provided data that was beneficial in determining how the denomination trains churches in sponsoring new work. As a result seventeen principles were identified. These principles illustrate that new churches need more than money from their sponsorship.
