- The aim of this project was the development of a preaching model to address the contemporary issues of young adult African Americans. The model introduced traditional Christian ideas of faith, grace, hope, mercy and salvation into the critical issues faced by these young adults. This model permitted the sermon to address the tensions involved in the interactive forces and elements faced by these young adults. This preaching model addresses contemporary issues biblically to enable young adults to hear the call to commit their lives to the gospel of Jesus Christ. A sample group in the age range 30-35 heard four sermons developed and preached by the author. Each participant filled out a questionnaire after the sermon to measure their responses to the critical issues and Christian themes raised in the model. A dialectical sermon model formed the structure out of which the critical issues were preached to these African Americans.
