  • The author develops an argument linking blocked intimacy in men's relationships with other men to unresolved grief. A theoretical structure is described, identifying this grief as a response to men's early developmental experience of lack of a father figure with whom to identify. The author proposes that through a conscious grieving of the loss inherent in this early experience, men may have greater capacity to engage in relationship.
