  • This project designed and tested a contemporary adaptation of the Wesley class meeting which the author called a Journey in Discipleship. The program stressed the personal-relational nature of the Gospel. It focused on aiding and equipping members in a new church development to live out their Christian faith in authentic and meaningful ways as individuals and as members of a community. The project implemented in the Mountain View United Methodist Church in the Fall of 1987. It organized persons into small groups for study, sharing and reflection. During the ten week implementation period of the project, participants met to study prepared materials. Weekly sessions centered on Wesley's theology of Christian conversion and the church.
