  • In a world that values the successful individual leader as archetypal, this treatise examines the challenge of leadership in co-pastoring. The author used an evolving narrative to illustrate the benefits and challenges of co-pastoring in the local church. As an initial effort to examine co-pastoring as a leadership model at First United Methodist Church, Hershey, identified clearly is the understanding that without humility, respect, and trust a co-pastoring appointment will not succeed. With so modest an amount of material available for examination, shared leadership as exemplified in co-pastoring must be observed and critiqued with potential for the future.
