  • Are parish ministers able to train lay persons for pastoral care ministry and to be effective supervisors of these lay persons when adequately trained and carefully supervised? the research methodology was a group case study. Eight parish ministers were trained to train lay persons in pastoral care ministry and in the theory and practice of pastoral supervision. The ministers then received supervision of their supervision. This dissertation presents descriptions of the practices of pastoral supervision by these seven ministers. The research indicates that parish ministers can train and effectively supervise lay persons when the supervisors are carefully supervised.
