Abstrakt

Local churches frequently receive bequests from wills and estates. This project aims to assist local churches in developing a philosophy of endowment usage and in identifying proper legal terminology to assist them in directing such gifts work at home and abroad. The project surveys churches with endowment funds in existence. Copies of legal documents, histories of funds from their inception, mechanics of annual interest distribution, and documentation of effects on local ministries were assembled and evaluated. The project concludes with facsimiles of endowment documents as ready tools for congregations in process of establishing endowments.
