Abstrakt

Healthy religious experience of elderly persons assists them in dealing with common issues of the aging process. These issues include 'five D's' of deterioration, dependency, deprivation, detachment and death. Spiritual profile assessment responses of forty-four elderly are analyzed as well as profiles given from an in-depth questionnaire by fifteen of these persons. Psychological theory concepts from Jung's individuation and Wesleyan spiritual maturity processes and included. Four implications for pastoral care based on these findings are given.
