  • The project focus was to determine the emotional impact of the reassignment process on itinerant pastors in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and identify the deficiency in this process that contributed to their grief. This author used surveys and individual interviews with A. M. E. pastors to assess the reassignment process. The findings indicated that the absence of communication before reassignment had the emotional effect associated with loss, diminishing Itinerant Elder authority in ministry and their role as a partner in the vision for the church. The outcome demonstrated that faithful partnership and dialogue can mitigate the emotional effect of this process.
