  • In the American church today, a parish minister, by intention or default, is often his or her family's minister. This study asks: what is the nature of the spiritual life of the clergy spouse? and it raises interesting questions and discussion about the unique clergy family and their 'pastoral' relationship. The author/researcher approached this project from a case study methodology involving thirteen participant clergy spouses. Data were collected through extensive literature review, questionnaires, a sanctuary exchange program and journaling. A model for clergy family spiritual strengthening was proposed.
