  • Business, loneliness, and pride can truncate the spiritual growth of church leaders. There appears to be a catalytic relationship between spiritual conversations and the spiritual health of church leaders. Church leaders find a safe place for discerning God's healing initiative through spiritual direction. To ascertain the impact of spiritual direction upon the church leader's spiritual formation, sixteen pastors and program staff received monthly spiritual direction for twelve months. Ninety-four percent reported aspects of spiritual growth. The effect of spiritual direction catalyzed not only the leaders' spiritual growth, but impacted consequent changes in the relational dynamics of the broader staff and church session, with a renewal of the wider church and its ministry.
