Abstrakt

The Book of Church Order of the Presbyterian Church in America requires the ruling elders to fulfill the role entitled 'pastor'. In this role, one can expect to become a counselor; a term which suggests a ministry requiring technical training, ability to diagnose root problems and provide the means toward healing past hurts. This perspective destroys confidence in one's ability to fulfill this assigned role. This project seeks to examine Solution-Focused Brief Therapy as a possible strategy by which the ruling elder can develop confidence and ability to provide counseling appropriate to his office.
