Abstrakt

This project explores, through surveys and interviews, the challenges and assets affecting survival and growth of Bethany Korean Baptist Church (Houston, Tex) and other small, immigrant, ethnic churches in the US. Pastors are the most important variable; other significant factors include laypersons, fidelity, morale, locale, ethnicity, cultural conflicts, and personal conflicts. Small, ethnic churches in American society are terribly disadvantaged by limited resources, low morale, identity confusion, and by their propensity for personal and cultural conflicts, all of which threaten their survival.
