Abstrakt

The purpose of the project was to improve understanding and open communication between parents and their teenage children. The workshop was designed to help parents and teenagers use the teen years for the process of 'de-parenting'. This means through open communication to bring children from the organized world of childhood safely through the disorganized teen years to become stable reorganized young adults. The workshop demonstrated how parents and youth could use 'de-parenting' agreements or a series of agreements to negotiate the turbulent teen years with a minimum of conflict and misunderstanding.
