Abstrakt

The project is based on programs developed at a Lutheran church in Minnesota. It attempts to provide an overview of the current refugee situation; a profile of Hmong, Laotian, Vietnamese, and Cambodian refugees; an assessment of current problems and needs; a description of programs developed for refugees; and a model of servanthood ministry. It creates for clergy and laity an awareness of resettlement issues and provides a launching point where congregations can begin to respond to the needs of refugees. The project explores ways in which Christian congregations can develop effective ministries and unique programs based on Christian love and theology which use public and private funds to help refugees become motivated and self-sufficient.
