Abstrakt

Project introduces Adult Catechumenate to suburban congregation in Cleveland, Ohio. Ecumenism (Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification), race, and postmodernism are context. Prior catechesis failed for eight percent of adults baptized. Chapter 2 reviews the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults of the Roman Catholic Church. Patristic practice and the Road to Emmaus provide sacramental and communal journey theology correcting earlier rationalist, individualist practice. Community grounded in the Trinity (von Balthasar.) Data: two questionnaires and Lenten discussion. Pastoral care of converts for conversion to discipleship and community life grounded in Word and Sacrament. Sponsors are renewed in their faith.
