  • The ministry project analyzed needs ofcollege students and designed a ministry of the Baptist Student Union toward two needs: loneliness and low self-esteem. Numerical growth, teaching ministry skills and providing friendships for lonely students were the goals. The campus minister formed a Christian care committee toencourage students through affirming phone calls. He began a friendship group, a small group discussion based on developmental needs of college students. The Baptist Student Union grew numerically before the project began and no new growth resulted. However, new students were assimilated into the BSU organization because of the committee.
