- This qualitative research study explores family members' experiences of making care and treatment decisions at the end of life. A variety of methods for approaching case consultations have been primarily physician-focused, leaving the role of the clinical ethicist from the perspective of the family overlooked. Indicating a gap in the process of end-of-life decision making, family members identified seven categories about their experience of decision making. The participants' responses raised personal and professional questions, which upon reflection point to a creative way to do ethics which could meet their needs and improve the process of decision making for family members.
