- The church is called to be a community with a living tradition centered in Jesus Christ, but this central commitment is challenged by a culture where the past is often seen as irrelevant to present life. This study examines the efforts of a congregation to interpret its history as part of its 150th anniversary celebration, and to link this journey with the individual faith journeys of its members. The study concludes that congregational history telling can be a powerful resource, building a stronger sense of community and self-understanding and providing encouragement and guidance for faithful service in the future.
